Characterization of MAO + Cu Composite Coatings on Aluminum Alloy

Novel composite coatings were fabricated on 6061 aluminum alloy substrates by two steps combining micro-arc oxidation (MAO) plus electroless copper plating (Cu). Different MAO + Cu compared. continuously and evenly covered an oxide surface during processing thus changing the topography. The adhesion of coating was tested pull-out method. best strength can reach industrial requirements. effects friction investigated using a ball-on-disc test It is found that in plays lubricating effect wear process under dry sliding. Furthermore, mechanisms which observed advantages produced are discussed.
